Happy July! Celebrating our nation's freedom fills me with gratitude and appreciation for the freedoms we share. To speak freely of my faith is the freedom that I hold most dear. Freedom means "the state of being able to act without hindrance." It's in Christ that I have freedom from the bondage of sin so I can live without hindrance the life that God intended for me to live. For this I am grateful!

Landscapes are on the horizon. I have only painted outside once so far, but I have been working in the studio on landscapes using reference photos. My favorite scenes are ones with water. The sight of water conveys calm and a sense of harmony.

As much as a landscape highlights the season, my still-life paintings do the same. I have a small selection of flowers in my garden, one of which is lavender. These linear little purple blooms bring direction and rich color to my setups while filling my studio with their lovely aroma.

Orange Day Lilies with Lemons

Day lilies are blooming everywhere right now. I don't have any in my garden, but I did forage some for a sunny, colorful painting. All flowers are so unique it's fun to explore their colorful and shapely designs.

July always feels like a turning point. The end of the year is in sight now and there is still so much to do! I'll take one day at a time, trusting that God's will is done and not my own.
